This weekend you can wear several outfits. Put on your cowboy hat and boots to hit up a show with one of the biggest names in country music. Paint on the fake blood for a fun zombie event. Let your inner hipster be free at a local punk swap event. In this week’s edition of Caller Entertainment’s Top 5 Weekend Picks with Sarah Acosta find out about a big concert and comedy show coming to the American Bank Center along with some quirky local events.
Barbecue stain on your white T-shirt: The man that sings the song to inspire us to “Live Like You Were Dying,” Tim McGraw, will bring his “Two Lanes of Freedom Tour” to Corpus Christi at 7 p.m. Friday at the American Bank Center arena. Read more about McGraw here.
LOL: Country music not your thing You can head over to the American Bank Center Selena Auditorium for an enjoyable night. Comedian Sinbad will be performing his stand-up act at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Read more about the comedian here.
Lowriders: Cue that famous song “Low Rider” and head over to the Competition Sound’s Battle on the Bay car show and concert from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the American Bank Center. Enjoy custom cars, sound systems and a concert with rapper Baby Bash headlining. Cost of the event is $20. Read more on the car show here.
Zombies that like to bowl: Don’t be scared of these zombies, they just like to bowl. The Zombie Bowling League will kick off another season at 6 p.m. Sunday nights at the AMF Saratoga Lanes, 6116 Ayers St. Make sure to get dressed up in your best zombie attire and sign up for a four person bowling team. The league cost $15 per person and includes three rounds of bowling plus one practice game with rental shoes. All ages are welcome and encouraged to come in zombie attire for the costume contest. Punk Swap: No, you can’t swap your punk little brother here, but you can sell, swap or barter locally made goods and hip junk at the Punk Swap meet 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the TFC Rehearsal Studios, 5802 Wooldridge Road, Building D. Suite 2. The swap will play host to members of Corpus Christi’s Do It Yourself community and interested buyers. Read more about the event here.
